WHAT'S THIS ABOUT
Awarding higher points for a no play draw in a Saturday two day match.
DISCUSSION
Adam Brady suggested (email 24-Mar)
...where a Saturday game is a draw without any play (no first innings result possible) then both teams (should) get 3 points each instead of 2 points each to factor in bonus points (which are missed out). I could even argue and push for 3.5 points per team, but could live with 3 points each.
Draws with some play will stay as 2 points each plus bonus points.
Some late season draws will disadvantage teams close on the ladder.
Mark Irwin (email 24-Mar) added
I agree 2 points is unfair. I think it should be 4. That is 8 points for a game. But I could live with 3.5 points.
Also the points for 1st innings tie should remain at 2 per team.
ABM comments:
It's 4 points for a first innings win fellers!! If we make this too high then teams will be avoiding a start on a wet day to take the 3.5 points. .
3.5 points it is then.
This is otherwise a reasonable idea.
Reg 34.1.13 Match abandoned before any result becomes redundant and can be removed.
Management Committee decided that this change should be applied to Saturday One Day 35 over matches too, both the regularly scheduled ones or the "because day 1 was washed out" kind.
If 3.5 points for a no play draw is too much then maybe 3 points?
A similar change is strongly recommended for CCC Reg 22 and 36.
